Jewar Airport Inauguration Updates: PM Modi laid foundation stone for Noida International Airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Noida International Airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh. It will be one of the largest aerodromes in Asia.
The airport, the second international aerodrome in Delhi-National Capital Region, is expected to be operational by September 2024 with an initial capacity to handle 1.2 crore passengers per annum.
The airport, spread over 1,330 acres of land, will be developed by Zurich Airport International AG.
On Wednesday, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said the Noida International Airport will become one of the largest airports in Asia.
It will be the fourth largest international airport in the world and the project would create more than one lakh job opportunities, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.
The first phase of the aerodrome is being done at a cost of more than Rs 10,050 crore, and the ground work regarding land acquisition and rehabilitation of the affected families has been completed, an official release said on Tuesday.
The airport at Jewar will help decongest the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in the national capital. It is strategically located and will serve the people of cities including Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Agra, Faridabad and neighbouring areas, the release said.
The airport will also be the country’s “first net zero emissions airport”.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia on Thursday said that the Noida International Airport will create employment opportunities for more than 1 lakh people.
Speaking on the occasion of the foundation laying stone ceremony of Noida International Airport, the Union Minister said soon there will be 17 airports in Uttar Pradesh.
“Noida International Airport will be a multi-modal connectivity hub and bring in investments worth Rs 60,000 crore to Uttar Pradesh. It will create employment opportunities for more than 1 lakh people. Soon we will see 17 airports including an international airport at Ayodhya in the state,” said Mr Scindia.
“I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and congratulate all of you on Jewar airport,” he said.

The Noida Police have issued a traffic advisory before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Uttar Pradesh’s Jewar, where he will launch the construction of an international airport.
Hundreds of people have come in buses and tractors to the area to attend the event for building Noida International Airport, leading to traffic congestion at some areas near Jewar, 99 km from Delhi.
The Noida Police in the traffic advisory said VIP vehicles coming from village Sabota will be allowed to park at the designated area marked as “P-08”.
VIP and media vehicles coming from Bulandshahr and Jhajjar side can park behind Ranehara police station at a spot designated as “P-04”.
The design of the airport focuses on the convenience of passengers. The processes at the airport will be digitally enabled.
